Angie Richard (Davis), Multidisciplinary Storyteller, Producer, and Researcher. Founder of Anicca Media and Co-Founder of Voyage Virage.

I am an Australian mother of three, a multidisciplinary storyteller, and a Masters student (SAE Australia) exploring creative practice research.

I practice and collaborate creatively under my independent studio, Anicca Media, committed to stories and impact campaigns that aim to spark conversations and inspire positive behavioral change. I'm currently producing the upcoming documentary feature film, Women & the Wind, which follows the voyage of three women crossing the North Atlantic ocean along the route of migrating plastics on a 50-year-old wooden catamaran.

I am also currently completing a post-graduate Masters degree in creative led research, where at the heart of my studies is an exploration of how creative practitioners can take more active roles in driving science and envisioning regenerative futures.

As part of my lived research, I am creating a Floating Stories Lab - building a traditional wooden Polynesian double canoe/catamaran sailboat with my husband and kids. Our project supports cutting edge science spotlighting the detrimental impact of end-of-life Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP aka fiberglass) boats on marine environments, and as such, we aim to use no GRP on our wooden boat and will be exploring the viability of alternative materials ie bio composite resins.

Once the boat build is complete, our family will move aboard and embark on a global circumnavigation to explore how humans can live more regeneratively, disseminating the research along the way.

Along the journey, I will also further my creative led practice research, rooted in an auto-ethnography methodology. My sights are set on a PhD, which will provide an opportunity to develop a more comprehensive theoretical framework, expand my methodological toolkit, and contribute to the global discourse on creative practice and regenerative futures.

Please reach out if you'd like to collaborate or hire me on an aligned project.

“Angie is the hardest working director I know who makes things from the heart for positive change. All of her work is inspired from the amazing life she has lived travelling the world.” — Taylor Steele, Award-Winning Director

“Angie is a producer and director with a broad set of skills. From concept and pre-production to location filming and delivery, she is extremely thorough. Angie has a proven track record on innovative productions which are pushing tecchnology and storytelling with immersive media. Her calm, open approach coupled with a firm determination to deliver blue chip material often sees her in remote locations around the world capturing stories and beautiful images that make a difference to conservation. We worked together on a Silverback Films co-production in Kenya where we were often in very close proximity to lions and elephants with new prototype cameras. Angie's positive attitude, awareness of safety, and knowledge of what was possible in such situations helped us concentrate and deliver the very best from a shoot which was also great fun.” — Luke Barnet, Wildlife Cinematographer

“Working with Angie has been an awesome experience. I have been working alongside her for the last four to five years. Most notable were her two documentaries, Double Barrel and The Laps. Angie is a great collaborator and always has fresh ideas on how to approach each project. She gives 110% to every job and has amazed me with her determination to make each project a success. I look forward to seeing where her career takes her.” — Tim Wreyford, Cinematographer, Editor and Color Grader

“Angie and I have been working together for almost 10 years. It is rare to find someone who can cross business, production, writing and creative in all projects and I have always enjoyed our collaborations together. An authentic storyteller whether in documentary, emerging technologies such as VR or her own stories of vulnerability and growth.
I’m looking forward to a new phase of working with Angie on a project I consider my life’s work and that I would place in no other hands to start the genesis of something incredibly important to me in my work with women, for women and by women.”
— Sybil Steele, Founder Temme Media

“I have collaborated with Angie over a number of years. Angie is one of those rare individuals whose amazing creative talent is matched only by her courage and tenacity. Angie is driven by storytelling across multiple mediums including film and VR, and the power of these mediums to make real positive change in the world. This passion led us to collaborate on an education program for an episodic film initiative called The Laps. Laps is now gaining international momentum for not only the quality of Angie’s filmic and storytelling skills but for the attention it is bringing to climate change and our impact on the environment.
Angie has a passion for education and community and this powerful combination will no doubt continue to help build Angie’s international reputation as a creative thought leader and change maker.”
— Michael O'Brien, Co-Founder Harness Projects, previously Director at Delta, Laureate University
